Back Roads Entertainment is an entertainment company in Austin TX founded by Colby Gaines, who's well known for having co-created one of cable's longest running hit shows, Pawn Stars. Since our inception, we've produced over 30 series, specials and pilots, and created shows such as the Emmy-Award nominated ''Lake Life'' on DIY, ''Joking Off'' on MTV, ''Big Bad BBQ Brawl'' on Cooking Channel, ''50 Central'' on BET, and many more.
We develop and produce unscripted TV shows across genres of food, home, comedy, game, competition and more. Our current projects have us working with high-profile superstars and pitching to every streamer, cable channel, and broadcast network there is.
Back Roads interns will be involved in every aspect of the TV development process. Interns will learn research and development techniques for unscripted projects, keep up to date on buzz-worthy news and industry trends, and learn how to develop and pitch their own original unscripted TV ideas.
Back Roads interns will be engaged in a bi-weekly master class program to learn all of the steps and stages of TV development from loglines to one-pagers, decks and sizzles. Every week, our interns are also pitching their own original ideas directly to the company's Founder and development team in our brainstorm and ideation sessions. Over the course of the semester, our interns learn how to take these early ideas and enhance them, developing the ideas into ready-to-pitch TV shows.
RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for interns with a passion for television who are available a minimum of 2 days and up to 4 full days (16 to 32 hours) a week. Applicants are REQUIRED to obtain school credit for this internship. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is preferred. Adobe Creative Suite and video editing is a plus.
The internship will start at the beginning of the Fall semester (around August 23rd) and run until the end of the semester (around December 17th) in-person at the Austin office.
