Responsibilities

What You'll Do:
• Create compelling, original content on air for ALT 98.7, Detroit’s Alternative Rock
• Engage with fans at ALT 98.7 events, sales appearances and remote broadcasts
• Create content for station socials that enhances both your brand and the station’s brand
• Protect the station’s FCC license
• Monitor the music and commercial logs for the airshift
• Ensure that promotions and contests are executed properly
• Other duties as required by management

Qualifications

Required & Preferred:
• Must have a thorough understanding of the alternative format, audience and lifestyle
• Must be an excellent communicator and collaborator with a strong work ethic
• Should have a working knowledge of the equipment and technical systems necessary for on-air execution, including automation systems such as Wide Orbit
• On-air experience in either the alternative or rock radio formats preferred
• Experience with music scheduling and/or audio production a plus
• Must have knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
• A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicants own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required

Physical Requirements:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Majority of work will involve speaking into a microphone and operating a computer keyboard
• Job may require on site broadcasts where tables/equipment may need to be set up/broken down
