Pay Transparency:
The anticipated salary for Los Angeles-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $110,000/yr - $140,000/yr.

Responsibilities
This person will help KNX News evolve and adapt to an ever-changing news world, fostering a collaborative environment to help the station move forward with intention and integrity, with the listener always at the top of mind. As the nerve center of the newsroom, you’ll monitor a wide range of information sources, coordinate real-time story development, and set the editorial tone for our newscasts. You’ll be the station’s daily shot caller, assigning and supporting reporters, editors, producers, and anchors to ensure timely, accurate, and compelling coverage of the day’s most important stories in the Los Angeles area and beyond.
• Monitor news wires, social media, tips, and sources to identify breaking stories and emerging developments.
• Assign stories and coordinate coverage with reporters, producers, editors, and anchors for newscasts
• Serve as the primary point of communication in the newsroom, ensuring clear direction and real-time updates throughout the day
• Lead daily editorial meetings and guide short and long-term story planning.
• Shape story angles and prioritize content based on newsworthiness and audience interest.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities for team members.
• Help recruit and onboard new talent while fostering a collaborative newsroom culture.
• Oversee live and pre-recorded interviews, verifying facts and sourcing before air or publication.
• Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and uphold KNX’s commitment to responsible journalism.
• Be available for occasional nights, weekends, and emergency news coverage, as needed.
Qualifications
More About You:
Education/Work experience:
• 5 years of experience in a newsroom environment, ideally in radio, digital, or broadcast journalism.
Required Qualifications
• Strong editorial judgment, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience working at or managing an assignment desk preferred.
• Deep familiarity with the Los Angeles news market is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Physical requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for prolonged periods, with reasonable accommodations provided as necessary.
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds, such as office equipment, documents, and presentation materials.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond effectively to stakeholders, manage presentations, and participate in meetings.
