Audacy is looking for a talented and energetic Broadcast Multi-Media Engineer. This position will report to the Director of Technical Operations, based in Chicago. This is an IBEW covered position (''Technician''). You must be a self-starter, able to work independently and fulfill responsibilities without constant supervision; with a proven track record of excellent customer service and communication skills.

Do you have experience using and developing a variety of industry leading live video and audio workflows? Audacy is looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented Multimedia focused broadcast engineer to evolve and oversee various Audacy Sport Projects. The ideal candidate is a quick-thinking self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced live production environment, easily pivoting from problem solving and communicating operating procedures across the organization to managing budgets and multi-layer road maps.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
• Maintain integrity of all on-air and on-line products, including high power FM HD, AM, digital audio & video streaming
• Become an expert with our video productions, video delivery, cloud based conferencing workflows, audio signal paths, and all related services such as CMS, players and 3rd party playout systems
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all broadcast equipment, including transmitters, antennas, cameras, lighting, video switchers, STL, satellite downlinks, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators and backup power systems, telephone system and related equipment
• Responsible for restoration of video and operational issues, troubleshooting and providing technical solutions to operational problems
• Install and maintain broadcast IT systems at studios and transmitter sites, such as WideOrbit, Newsboss, Syncoricity, MusicMaster systems and servers
• Intermediate configuration and support of advanced video equipment
• Advanced understanding of delivering broadcast quality audio and mix minus
• Interact with vendors and internal Audacy engineering teams to mitigate and resolve issues quickly
• Manage the full production stack including, production workflows end to end and encoders
• Troubleshoot all issues including, connection issues with remote hosts and studio cameras, lighting and audio issues
• Review potential vulnerabilities and advise on improvements as needed
• Work closely with local engineers and IT professionals to optimize networks and audio distribution
• Create and maintain documentation for internal and external needs.

Qualifications

Required & Preferred:
• Availability to work various hours / days, including weekends and some holidays
• Ability to provide on-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failure
• A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required
• Minimum two years of experience in broadcast facility maintenance, including hands-on support of FM/AM radio transmitters, analog and digital formats, and modern studio equipment at a radio station.
• Associate’s degree in electronics preferred
• Familiarity with high voltage, RF exposure and safety, generators and backup power systems, satellite downlink facilities and receivers
• Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain all broadcast radio station equipment, including transmitters, transmission lines, antenna’s, satellite downlinks, automation system, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone system and related other equipment
• Experience with modern digital audio systems including WideOrbit, VoxPro and Axia Livewire, and Dante is highly desirable
• Knowledge of computers, IT security and network systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations
• Experience in project planning, management and execution
• Experience with digital audio and audio/video streaming
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills; excellent customer service are critical
• Proven time management skills including the ability to multi-task in a multiple project environment
• Experience in project planning, management and execution
• FCC Commercial Radio Operators License or SBE Certifications are a plus
• Expert knowledge of leading cloud video production platforms and workflows
• Experience with Tricaster, OBS, Streamyard, VMix and similar technologies highly preferred
• Expert knowledge of leading audio workflows including axios and other IP based deployment tools
• Wide Orbit experience a plus, understanding of OTA distribution systems preferred
• Experience with remote broadcasts, LiveU, Pearl system experience a plus
• Experience working with project management tools example Jira and confluence a plus
• Experience working across departments with a diverse group of engineers to develop best practices, QC and deploy A/V workflows
• Expert knowledge of NDI technologies
• Audio Uplink experience preferred
• Understanding of security protocols, firewall and LAN infrastructures
• Background in developing turn key workflows in regards too live streaming technology flows
• Experience using, SRT AND RTMP, Web RTC, Zixi preferred
• Experience with documenting best practices and communicating with senior level stakeholders
• Experience developing training materials to communicate complex workflows easily

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
