The Lead Electrician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day electrical operations, maintenance, and repair of all utility components, systems, and structures at State Farm Arena. Working closely with the Senior Maintenance Manager, this role leads and delegates work to electrical staff while ensuring all preventive maintenance programs are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and OSHA standards. Success in this role means a safe, fully operational facility that supports world-class guest experiences at every event.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities (55%)
• Plans and implements an effective preventive maintenance program for all electrical components, systems, and structures in coordination with the Senior Maintenance Manager.
• Diagnoses malfunctions in electrical components and systems, determines root causes, and executes timely corrective repairs to minimize facility downtime.
• Reads and interprets electrical, electronic, and architectural drawings, control schematics, and operations manuals to guide accurate installation, maintenance, and repair work.
• Ensures all equipment is properly tagged and secured before maintenance or repair work is performed, maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
• Delegates duties and responsibilities to electrical staff, monitors work progress, and keeps the Senior Maintenance Manager fully informed of status and outcomes.
Secondary Responsibilities (25%)
• Reviews schedules, operations reports, equipment conditions, and parts/material inventories to maximize departmental effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assists in preparing purchase orders for materials, tools, equipment, spare parts, and supplies; coordinates with vendors to secure pricing and ordering information.
• Orients and trains new employees on shift O&M routines, safety procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Exchanges relevant technical information with consultants, contractors, and manufacturers' representatives as directed by the Senior Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities (15%)
• Develops and recommends techniques for work method simplification, cost reduction, and improved working conditions to enhance overall departmental performance.
• Maintains accurate records, schedules, charts, and documentation as required to ensure proper and timely preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Submits ideas and suggestions to the Maintenance Manager to help plan work schedules and assignments in alignment with O&M repair requirements.
• Recommends updates to position descriptions and job requirements to the Senior Maintenance Manager for future management consideration.
Additional Responsibilities
(5%)
• Provides direct support and assistance during major work projects and event-day surge needs.
• Completes timesheets accurately to ensure correct recording of hours and work performed.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Senior Maintenance Manager and Facilities Services Manager.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of trade school completion may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience requirement.
• Master Electrician License required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of electrical construction and maintenance experience with detailed working knowledge of electrical components, systems, tools, test instruments, and proper installation/repair procedures.
• Working knowledge of safety equipment, systems, and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe workplace and public environment.
• Ability to read and interpret all commercial electrical drawings, schematics, and programs as applied to the electrical trade.
• Must be able to operate aerial/atrium work platforms and all ladder types up to 40 feet in elevation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and manufacturers' representatives.
• Must be a self-starter, motivated, and willing to be on call and respond after hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a sports, entertainment, or large-scale public assembly facility environment.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems.
• Experience supervising or leading a team of electricians or maintenance technicians.
• Knowledge of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, AV, and security/access control.
• Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order platforms.
