Position Summary
The Hawks & State Farm Arena are seeking an experienced Manager of Event Strategy and Experience (Global Partnerships Vertical) who shares a passion for creating successful events and unique experiences that leave a memorable experience for those that attend. You should love strategizing with other departments and leading the team in planning, designing processes which will be executed against strict timelines; and working well with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
The role will support a centralized event and experience function for Global Partnerships, Membership and other Organizational requests and will standardize how event experiences are created and delivered against our organizational strategy. Within the department, this role will specifically manage strategy and implementation for Global Partnerhips initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead the development of the Global Partnerships [GP} annual strategy for contractual events and experiences in partnership with the GP Activation team on behalf of their partners
• Oversee the engagement strategy, creative approach, planning, and execution for events, including day-of-event management
• Conceptualize, design, and create engagement opportunities to align with other organizational priorities
• Lead development, design, event creation, and communications for all GP events
• Provide strategic guidance and consultation for new corporate programs, events, and other experiences
• Design recommendations for strategic approach, policies, budget, and creative direction of new events
• Developing approach and methods to evaluate and measure event success. Leverage insights in the development of an annual strategy
• Influencing and negotiating with internal partners as needed in best interest of the success of the Global Partnerships event and experience strategy
• Produce detailed proposals for events, e.g., timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing, and budgets
• Ensure insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations are adhered to
• Coordinate venue management, caterers, contractors, and equipment hire
• Plan room layouts and the entertainment program, scheduling workshops, and demonstrations
• Coordinate and oversee event staffing requirements and staff briefing
• Complete post-event process and evaluation; including final expenses documention and management of payments, data collection and analysis, production of event recap for event stakeholders, and post-event briefing with interested parties
Requirements:
• 4-6 years of event management experience
• Extensive knowledge managing vendors and partnering with internal business cohorts in supporting operative events
• Experience leading a diversity of events, from small or medium-sized networking to large celebrations in the arena, practice facility or at external venues
• Strong commitments to making the organization feel like a great place to work for other employees
• Demonstrated awareness of event production best practices and trends, as well as experience implementing creative digital event features, is an added advantage
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention-to-detail, self-directed initiative, resourcefulness and drive for innovation
• Exceptional time, resource management, and organizational skills
• Operational project management skills and experience creating work plans, meeting agendas and other collaboration tools
• Strong customer-orientation and proven reputation of collaborative work relationships
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills
• Exceptional executive presence and ability to cultivate positive relationships with cross-functional partners and executive leaders
• Ability to prioritize workload and act with appropriate urgency
• Demonstrated proactive commitment in evolving events based on feedback and guidance
• Effective, independent decision-making ability
• Calm appearance under pressure
• Readiness to work outside fixed business hours if necessary (e.g. mornings, evenings, and weekends)
• Sense of humor and capacity to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
This position may require operating a company vehicle or driving as part of regular job duties. All employees in such roles must have held a valid driver's license for a minimum of three (3) years.
