Position Overview
The Director of Marketing reports to our Team President and will lead our group of digital content producers and marketers. This person will lead planning for annual plans and tentpole program executions that align with the brand vision to support our Growth initiatives, including fan growth, ticket sales and sponsorship inventory. These efforts will include, but are not limited to social media strategy, e-commerce for single game ticket sales, lead generation for season tickets, e-mail campaigns, paid advertising, influencer relationships and integrations with community relations.
Above all else, this person is performance-minded and intellectually curious in everything they do and they know success can always be measured and optimized. We measure everything. Because if we're investing money or time, we want to know it will make an impact. The Director of Marketing will be a strategic and creative leader who will know how to conceive, test, optimize and iterate to identify ideas and solutions that help the Atlanta Dream connect with fans and grow our business. This person will also be a champion of a team culture that fosters participation and creativity across the organization. The Director of Marketing will help bring data to the forefront to aid alignment and direction for the organization.
As part of a unique structure for a pro sports team, this person will work closely with our SVP, Growth and our VP, Ticket Sales and Service to drive single game ticket sales through Ticketmaster, grow our database and consistently supply the ticket sales team with quality leads through paid social efforts. This will include concepting ticket experiences that broaden our appeal to our fans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Build proactive data collection efforts to grow our CRM database and performance
• Lead e-commerce efforts to drive single game ticket sales through Ticketmaster
• Help guide the creation of a social media strategy that centers on audience interests
• Create marketing programs and assets that provide valuable inventory to our Corporate Partnership team and align with the brand vision
• Create e-mail strategies for key user journey to increase impact of our database
• Identify data solutions that tell us more about current and potential fans, and allow us to more powerfully leverage our CRM
• Assist the SVP of Growth in developing KPIs across all marketing platforms
• Work with Atlanta Dream retail partner to develop enhanced retail sales plans
• Work closely with our Community Impact and Activations team to identify potential human moments in our community efforts that will translate to strong content
• Help keep the organization's staff and resources focused on efforts that align with KPIs
• Translate performance data to identify the interests and challenges of our different fan segments to aid marketing and communication efforts
• Help manage iterative Growth marketing processes to conceive, test and optimize programs and ideas
• Be a collaborative partner within the organization that helps foster a creative, engaged culture
Required Education
, Experience, Traits and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication or in other related field
• Minimum five years of experience in Marketing, Digital and Content roles
• Strong experience with data-driven marketing and content executions
• E-commerce background that includes experience in optimizing each of the key phases of the user journey, with a focus on Return On Ad Spend (ROAS)
• Ability to use data to develop insights-driven fan segments
• Strong background in digital and content marketing
• Experience with e-mail/text marketing and other CRM-powered marketing activations
• Proven approach to driving a strong ROAS, especially for paid social
• Ability to identify and communicate KPIs that align organizational efforts and drive growth
• Experience with building influencer relations and marketing programs
• A passion for elevating women's athletics
• Leadership abilities that foster a culture of creativity, engagement and teamwork
• Creative thinker capable of leading a team to come up with the big idea
