Job Overview
To create the most innovative, engaging and culturally relevant experiences for our members – driving brand awareness, driving new membership, creating brand love and loyalty for ASCAP and its members at large.
The Senior Director will partner with our marketing and membership teams. We're looking for a seasoned experiential pro with expertise in all event types, specifically award show programs, marketing events and live music production. It's critical that you understand ASCAP's marketing objectives and can translate those into events that will foster thought leadership, drive industry relationships, revenue and infuse the power of music.
This position requires a curious, self-motivated individual that is passionate about music and pop-culture, and has solid event production experience in technology and music events.
The role will be located in our NYC or LA corporate office.
Responsibilities
• Develop, project, manage and execute all ASCAP events, including core awards programs and all other experiences -- including, but not limited to, core events, B2B, artist/client hospitality, internal events, industry events
• Responsible for all aspects of ongoing event priorities, including:
• creating event concepts that deliver against stated objectives
• establishing timelines
• managing budget, tracking and reporting
• maintaining strong internal and internal and external relationships
• In all cases, the Senior Director must work with the team to execute against detailed, exhaustive event plans for each event, including budget, attendees, theme, purpose, logistics, layout, security, menu, décor, etc.
• Research, choose and vet all venues, vendors and producers for the event
• Aware of competitive events and the best new event activations and technology being used and introduced
• Create the concept and creation of all signage, lighting, event flow, ROS, SOWs for partners, staging, hospitality, activations, premiums, F&B, staging, sound production
• Work exceptionally well and cross-functionally with members of the membership team, the marketing and communications team, the executive team, finance, legal, on event project management
• Brainstorm and deliver exceptional brand experiences, through outstanding organizational skills, communication and eye for detail
• Development, management and execution of events for ASCAP and its properties according to requirements, target audience and objectives
• Manage event production and activation vendors
• Full ownership of the entire Run of Show for each event – all details and management
• Collaborate on content strategy for all events – social and marketing content from the events
Qualifications
• 7 years experience in event planning and execution and/or have been instrumental in the production of 200 events
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
• Knowledge of the experiential landscape and cutting-edge consumer experiences
• In-depth understanding of the music industry at large, including ASCAP's market share
• Comfortable working with talent, artists and high-profile individuals
• Strong negotiating skills and basic contract legal items/terms
• Manage all security of the events (vetting and securing the right partners)
• Strong working knowledge of hotel contracts, create, manage and maintain rooming lists
• Background and familiar with and in marketing and marketing practices
• Deep rolodex of event vendors and great working relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – proven ability to communicate with executives, peers, the public
• Superb organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional computer skills – fluency in all Microsoft applications and Google applications (e.g. Drive, Gmail, Calendar, etc)
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
• Passionate about events, the music industry, and wants to change the world with us
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required
