Job Description:
ASCAP's Accounting & Finance department is looking for someone to join the team as a Payroll Accountant.
As the Payroll Accountant, you will support the Payroll Manager in handling the semi-monthly payroll process. You will also be responsible for some general accounting duties, which will include assisting ASCAP's Assistant Controller and Accounts Payable Manager with accounting reconciliations and payroll entries to the general ledger.

Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
• Support the Payroll Manager in accurately processing semi-monthly payroll, including earnings, deductions and taxes for 500 exempt and non-exempt employees in accordance with company policy and federal, state and local laws
• Partner with Human Resources to gather supporting documentation for employee changes impacting payroll
• Keep payroll database up-to-date with employee information, user profiles, and other information
• Reconcile periodic tax filings and earnings records, including 941s, W-2s, etc., and help prepare payroll related schedules for tax returns
• Resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees by providing accurate and thorough responses that are timely and professional
• Reconcile payroll items to general ledger accounts
• Help maintain documentation of payroll procedures, processes and timelines
• Help maintain an organized filing system of all payroll related records
• Prepare miscellaneous personnel reports for management
• Complete ad hoc projects as assigned by Accounting & Finance leadership team
General Accounting
• Assist the accounts payable team with accounting reconciliations
• Prepare revenue reports for both audit and management purposes
• Prepare and maintain accurate related accounting schedules
• Assist with annual audit and tax return preparation
Qualifications
• 3 years of related work experience in payroll processing
• 1 year of basic accounting experience
• Experience with either Namely or Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains (experience with both a plus)
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality as it relates to sensitive personnel, financial and board related matters
• Very strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to consistently keep track of and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel)
