Job Purpose
The Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for shaping and aligning the Arizona Diamondbacks' brand, fan engagement, and marketing-driven revenue strategy. This leader partners closely with Vice Presidents and department heads across Marketing, Creative, Game Presentation, Communications, and Social/Digital to ensure teams are empowered, aligned, and positioned for success.
Job Responsibilities
The SVP & CMO serves as a strategic connector - helping unify vision, remove barriers, and support departments in delivering impactful, innovative work that grows the fan base and strengthens the Diamondbacks' brand.
Brand, Marketing & Fan Growth
• Collaborate with department leaders to develop and guide a comprehensive marketing strategy supporting ticket sales, partnerships, merchandise, and long-term fan loyalty.
• Champion and steward the Diamondbacks' brand positioning, voice, and storytelling across platforms.
• Support alignment around a consistent, engaging brand presence across campaigns, promotions, and fan touchpoints.
• Partner with Analytics and Revenue teams to leverage fan insights and performance metrics to inform decisions and optimize investments.
• Encourage thoughtful experimentation and innovation to drive fan growth and engagement.
Creative & Content
• Partner with Creative leadership to help define and evolve the Diamondbacks' creative vision and standards.
• Ensure creative efforts are aligned with broader marketing, partnerships, and fan engagement priorities.
• Advocate for bold, emotionally resonant storytelling that keeps the brand culturally relevant.
• Support resource prioritization and cross-functional collaboration to maximize creative impact.
Game Entertainment & Ballpark Experience
• Provide strategic guidance and partnership to Game Presentation and Fan Experience leaders.
• Foster alignment between in-ballpark entertainment, brand storytelling, and engagement objectives.
• Collaborate with Baseball Operations, Stadium Operations, and Partnerships to enhance the game-day experience.
• Support innovation that elevates energy, excitement, and fan connection at Chase Field.
Communications & Public Relations
• Partner with Communications and PR leadership to align messaging, storytelling, and reputation strategy.
• Serve as a senior advisor on key organizational messaging and crisis communications when needed.
• Support strong relationships with local, national, and league media.
• Encourage coordinated, consistent communication across fans, partners, and stakeholders.
Social Media & Digital Engagement
• Collaborate with Social/Digital leaders to shape platform strategy, voice, and engagement priorities.
• Champion innovative, fan-first, real-time content approaches.
• Support integration between social, digital, creative, and marketing initiatives.
• Encourage data-informed optimization and experimentation.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead with a partnership-first mindset, supporting and empowering Vice Presidents and their teams.
• Help ensure departments are aligned around shared priorities, goals, and brand direction.
• Foster a culture of trust, creativity, accountability, and open collaboration.
• Partner closely with Ticketing, Partnerships, Analytics, Baseball Operations, and MLB.
• Oversee budgets, agencies, and key external partners in collaboration with department leaders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 10 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with at least 4 years in a senior role (VP, SVP, CMO), ideally within the sports and entertainment industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communication and marketing principles, with the ability to translate complex business objectives into innovative, scalable marketing strategies and campaigns.
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing marketing, communications, and digital teams.
• Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
