This is a Part Time Paid Internship
Intern, Communications
Term: January - October 2021
Wage: $12.80 Per Hour
Part-time/Seasonal: up to 30 hours per week
Location: Salt River Fields (Scottsdale) & Chase Field (Phoenix)
Internship Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a junior, senior, postgraduate student, or within 2 years post-graduation with preferred majors of Journalism, Communication, Business, or related field. (If you do not meet the internship requirements, please do not apply.)
Primary Duties:
• Compile and log daily clips (print, on-line and TV) and media reports
• Assist in various writing projects (e.g. press releases, advisories, game notes)
• Coverage of press box in Spring Training and the regular season
• Assemble a daily statistical package
• Copying daily materials for media and broadcasters
• Aid with live shots, photo shoots and interviews
• General office responsibilities, including maintaining the club's media contact database and supporting credential and parking management
• Available 5-7 days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Skills
, Knowledge, and Experience:
• Strong communication and advanced writing skills, including sports collateral writing like game notes, Minor League reports and news releases.
• Experience in Adobe InDesign
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner, often under tight deadlines
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with media
• Ability to work individually or as part of a group, all while maintaining what's best for the team.
