Part Time Unpaid Internship
Intern, Guest Services
Job Purpose
The Guest Services Internship role is to provide support to the Guest Services department. In doing so, the Intern will gain a deep understanding of guest and event operations while learning valuable skills to assist them in their future career.
Primary Duties
• Help coordinate game-related events and activities
• Help manage our A-Game All-Star program for our part-time staff
• Assist in creating monthly schedules for Guest Services and Guest Relations staff using ABIMM Scheduling software
• Assist in creating events in the ABI
• Prepare/Distribute staff assignments and pertinent game day information for event staff
• Post event bill preparation for game-day staff
• Maintain game-day staff database
• Help manage Lost and Found by logging in lost items and responding to messages and guest inquiries
• Assist with ballpark preparedness (walkthroughs, setup, and assisting Operations staff)
• Administrative duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
• Excellent customer service skills, friendly, outgoing personality
• Excellent communication skills (written, phone and face-to-face)
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Publisher.
• Strong ability to work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance.
• Ability to remain calm and focused during a fast pace environment
• Ability to exercise sound judgment to diffuse volatile situations
• Ability to memorize the layout of Chase field in order to answer guest's general questions (seating sections, restrooms, concession stands, novelty shops, and other facility services and amenities)
• Basic knowledge of ADA protocols and policies preferred
Experience/Education Requirements
• Must be a junior, senior, postgraduate student, or within a year post graduation with preferred majors of Sports Management, Business, Event Management, or related field, pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university. Working Conditions and Physical Demands
• Flexible schedule (variety of shifts) to include weekends, evenings, some holidays, and some overtime to meet business needs
• Minimum of 20 hours per week
• Ability to stand for the entire shift (generally 6 hours but could be extended due to the nature of our business. i.e., extra innings, dual events)
• Ability to walk throughout Chase Field, up and down stairs, aisles, and on uneven surfaces (ramps)
• Ability to bend, work in high elevations (all levels of the ballpark) and enclosed spaces (including elevators)
• Must be comfortable working in large crowds. Noise levels in the work environment are frequently loud.
• Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors-May be exposed to all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
