This position will be located in our Culver City office and may be asked to be in the office on a hybrid schedule (days in-office to be determined). This can be subject to change to the then-current Company policy.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Accounting Manager will be reporting to the VP of Accounting and will be a crucial team player in accounting for our film and television studio and brand businesses (commercials, music videos, and other brand related content). This role will supervise four accounting team members and perform general accounting functions, drive process improvements, and analyze, interpret, record and present financial data. The ideal candidate will be highly interested in the entertainment business and be detail-oriented. This role requires strong partnership and collaboration with our US and International production teams, production accounting and FP&A team to deliver accurate accounting and reporting.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in and direct our monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and related activities, to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and trend analyses
• Review contracts related to film and television studio projects and brand projects and support the general ledger accounting and reporting for in-process and completed projects, including revenue recognition, production cost accruals and related participations/shares and commissions
• Review the sales commissions and director share calculations for accruals and quarterly payments
• Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules and working with auditors
• Drive process improvement and automation efforts to standardize and streamline policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function while safeguarding assets
• Partner with production team to research and analyze transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
• Participate in Company special projects and initiatives
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-6 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 year of management experience and 2 years of experience in relevant industry.
• Big 4 or other national public accounting firm experience preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or related field
• CPA or working towards CPA preferred
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (U.S. GAAP)
• Entertainment or media industry experience required
• Sage Intacct experience a plus
• Proficiency in Excel and Word required
• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
• High-energy level and a strong proactive work ethic
• Strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to conduct accounting research and summarize results accurately and independently
• Self-motivated, eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Creative thinker who can bring innovative ideas and approaches to solve issues
• Ability to challenge the status quo and leverage technology to build scalable processes, gain efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve outcomes
