Responsibilities
• Assist in managing the general ledger, including preparation and review of complex journal entries and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Support SOX compliance initiatives, including documentation and testing of internal controls, and work with the SEC Reporting Manager on financial reporting activities and remediation as needed.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations, financial statement schedules, and balance sheet reviews, ensuring a timely and accurate close.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports to support management decision-making, identify trends, and ensure regulatory compliance, including the application of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including royalty obligations to content creators and partners, with a focus on accuracy, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support internal and external audit processes, providing timely documentation, schedules, and analytical support.
• Identify and drive process improvements within the accounting team, including leveraging AI tools and automation opportunities to enhance workflows and strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications
• 3-5 years of accounting experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on general ledger, financial close, and account reconciliations; public company or public accounting experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles, with the ability to apply technical guidance to complex transactions.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems (NetSuite experience strongly preferred).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
Work Environment
When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.
Physical Demands
Will need to be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time. May potentially need to lift 15-20 pounds.
Travel Requirements
No out-of-state travel is anticipated at this time.
