Description
Who we are
We're a team that cares about work and about each other. If you want to help build something that Amplifies Light, we'd love to meet you. Join us and be part of stories that amplify light!
Summary/Objective
The People & Culture Specialist, Planning and Delivery is an experienced People & Culture professional whose assignment is the team's projects. You know how HR work gets done, and you use that to plan it, build it and see it through.
The team runs many projects at once, including system implementations and builds, program launches, and governance and compliance work, on top of the day-to-day. You'll sit in the project meetings, help build the plan and the assignments for each one, follow up so the work gets done, and own a list of People & Culture assignments yourself.
You'll work closely with People & Culture leadership, including in confidential meetings, and help manage the team's priorities and workload. You'll also back up the team's front-line specialist when Team Member questions need covering.
Done well, this work means the team always knows what's due and who owns it, projects land on time, and nothing People & Culture has promised falls through the cracks.
Requirements
Expectations of Leaders at Angel Studios:
• Amplify light in every action.
• As the owner of your outcomes, you are empowered to break down silos and coordinate with any and all people you need in order to reach your goals.
• You are ultimately responsible for achieving the outcomes while also using resources wisely, whether that be money, people, or time.
• Know your customer. It might be our viewers, investors, creators, or internal Angel teams. Ensure you understand your customer and are providing what THEY need and not just what you want to build.
• Contribute in a way that moves the Angel mission forward and exemplifies the team qualities required for working at Angel.
• When faced with roadblocks, mistakes or unforeseen circumstances, consistently and proactively find creative solutions and break down barriers to handle the challenge. The focus is on building, testing, learning and resolving, not on getting stuck or placing blame.
Essential functions
People & Culture work
• Own your own People & Culture assignments from start to finish, across areas such as onboarding, benefits, compliance, policy and Team Member experience.
• Use your HR knowledge to shape each project: what the law or policy requires, who is affected, and what could go wrong.
• Help design and build the systems, processes and frameworks the team runs on, working with small groups inside People & Culture and across Angel.
• Step in and do the work alongside the team when a project needs more hands.
• Back up the front-line People & Culture Specialist on Team Member questions and the People & Culture inbox when needed.
Project planning and delivery
• Attend team and project meetings for People & Culture projects, such as system implementations and builds, program launches, and governance and compliance work.
• Help build the project plan for each one: scope, tasks, timeline, and who owns what.
• Turn meeting decisions into assignments, and make sure every task has an owner and a due date.
• Track progress, follow up with owners before deadlines, and flag anything at risk early.
• Keep the People & Culture project and task tracker current, and report status to the team and to leadership.
Keeping the team running
• Run the team's meeting rhythm: agendas, notes, and action items sent the same day.
• Help People & Culture leadership manage the team's priorities and workload: see where work is piling up and recommend how to rebalance it.
• Prepare background, data, and drafts of documents and communications for team and leadership meetings.
• Pull data and prepare reports, summaries and presentations for the team and for leadership.
• Spot processes that are slow, manual or confusing, and propose and build the fix.
• Handle sensitive matters, including Team Member relations, compensation and organizational changes, with complete discretion.
Competencies
• You know how People & Culture work fits together, and you can tell when a plan won't hold up in practice for either our team members or for internal logistics.
• You can be trusted with anything. Pay, health, investigations, changes that haven't been announced: none of it leaves the room.
• You use independent judgment: you know what the team's leaders would want, when to act on it, and when to check first.
• You're organized: you can track many tasks, owners and deadlines at once without dropping any.
• You follow up without being asked, and you're comfortable reminding people senior to you.
• You're at ease with leaders at every level, including executives.
• You write clearly and can draft a message in someone else's voice.
• You learn new systems quickly and are at home in Google Workspace, an HRIS and a project management tool.
• You take ownership, share context, and are candid with positive intent.
• You care about supporting people and about our mission to amplify light.
Required education and experience
• 2 or more years of human resources experience, with working knowledge of benefits, onboarding, basic compliance and basic employment law.

• Experience handling highly confidential information.
Preferred education and experience
• Experience with system implementations, program launches, or governance and compliance projects.
• Experience supporting a senior leadership team.
• Experience in a company headquarters or a fast-growing environment.
