This is a Full Time Job
The Media Planner & Strategist is responsible for developing and executing full-funnel media strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and revenue for the Angel Guild. This role owns media strategy end-to-end: from audience research and channel selection, to purchasing and negotiating media, managing agency partners, and measuring campaign results against business goals. The ideal candidate brings both strategic thinking and hands-on media experience, and thrives in a fast-paced studio environment.
Expectations at Angel Studios:
• Amplify light in every action.
• As the owner of your outcomes, you are empowered to break down silos and coordinate with any and all people you need in order to reach your goals.
• You are ultimately responsible for achieving the outcomes while also using resources wisely - whether that be money, people, or time.
• Know your customer - it might be our viewers, investors, creators, or internal Angel Teams. Ensure you understand your customer and are providing what THEY need and not just what you want to build.
• Contributes in a way that moves the Angel mission forward and exemplifies the team qualities required for working at Angel.
• When faced with roadblocks, mistakes or unforeseen circumstances, consistently and proactively find creative solutions and/or break down barriers to handle the challenge or complication. (Focus is on creating/building/testing/learning/resolution rather than getting stuck and identifying or placing blame).
Essential Functions:
• Develop comprehensive media strategies from concept to execution, including audience research, channel selection, flighting, and budget allocation
• Build strategies and campaigns that deepen fan connection, and identifying new growth levers - from traditional marketing funnels to innovative concepts like bonus content, easter eggs, and interactive experiences
• Research products, audiences, and competitive landscape to inform media planning decisions and spending recommendations
• Manage end-to-end campaign execution across digital, social, programmatic, OOH, CTV/OTT, streaming, print, and other paid channels
• Oversee and manage relationships with external media agencies, holding partners accountable to performance benchmarks and strategic goals
• Analyze campaign analytics and performance data; generate reports and optimization recommendations for leadership and stakeholders
• Integrate into existing marketing systems and tools to enhance workflows, reporting accuracy, and forecasting
• Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, digital, and brand teams to align media strategy with broader campaign objectives
• Manage media budgets across all campaigns, tracking spend before, during, and after each campaign to ensure proper use of funds and strong return on investment.
• Present executive-level media strategies and campaign recaps to senior leadership and internal stakeholders
• Stay current on emerging media platforms, tools, and industry trends to bring innovative tactics to the team
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Competencies:
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into effective media plans
• Deep knowledge of paid media channels including digital display, video, social, programmatic, audio, OOH, and broadcast
• Proficiency in media analytics platforms and the ability to derive actionable insights from data
• Experience managing agency relationships and holding external partners to deliverables
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership
• Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative team player with a passion for film, TV, and storytelling
• Ability to take individual ownership, execute with high energy, share context, and insist on candor with positive intent
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in the English language required. Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, but not required
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 4 years of experience in media planning, media strategy, or a related marketing role
• Proven track record building and executing multi-channel paid media campaigns from start to finish
• Hands-on experience with media buying across digital, social, and traditional channels
• Experience managing agency partnerships and campaign analytics
• Strong proficiency in media analytics tools and platforms
• Experience managing media budgets and tracking spend against KPIs
Preferred Education and Experience
• 5 years of media strategy or media management experience, ideally within entertainment, studios, or streaming
• Knowledge of film, television, or digital content industries is strongly preferred
• Experience with programmatic advertising platforms and DSPs
