Junior UX Researcher
Angel Studios
Provo, UTThis is a Full Time Job
Description
Summary/objective:
Embedded with the TV product team, you will run regular usability research projects across a variety of TV platforms. These projects act as another layer of quality control, uncovering points of confusion and friction in core experiences before and after product launch.
This is a junior individual contributor role with meaningful ownership. The UX Research Manager will provide training, coaching, and methodological support, especially during onboarding. As you learn the products and research practices, you will take responsibility for studies from planning through sharing findings. You will work directly with the TV Product Manager to keep research responsive to the team's questions and to advocate for users in product decisions.
Essential functions
• Partner with the TV Product Manager and product team to identify, prioritize, and answer research questions; proactively suggest research when you notice an important gap in understanding.
• Build a regular, generally weekly cadence of usability testing across supported TV platforms, rotating attention through key interaction points such as onboarding and sign-up, watching content, discovery, account management, and other features as the team's needs change.
• Scope studies, prepare plans and interview guides, coordinate participants and sessions, conduct research, analyze evidence, and communicate findings and recommendations.
• Moderate sessions with real users. Notice confusion, hesitation, workarounds, and other behavior; ask thoughtful follow-up questions to understand what is happening without leading participants.
• Synthesize what participants say and do and share them in the form of clear, well-supported findings and recommendations that the TV team can use to make product decisions.
• Maintain accessible research documentation.
• Utilize additional research methods, such as prototype or unmoderated testing, when appropriate.
• Use AI-assisted tools for appropriate tasks such as transcription or initial synthesis, and review their output against the underlying research before drawing conclusions.
• Participate in UXR team training, and research discussions; contribute to other research projects as organizational needs evolve.
Requirements
Competencies
• A foundation in usability testing, moderation, and qualitative analysis.
• Strong observation and listening skills, with the judgment to ask useful follow-up questions and distinguish evidence from inference.
• Clear, concise communication that turns research into practical recommendations for product partners.
• Initiative and organization to manage a study and its logistics with growing independence while seeking guidance when needed.
• Ability to build a productive partnership with a cross-functional team and remain open to critique and new evidence.
• Willingness to learn research and AI-assisted tools while taking responsibility for the accuracy of findings.
• A curiosity about people and a passion for learning.

• Approximately one to two years of applied UX research experience preferred. Strong candidates with substantial internship or comparable project experience will also be considered.
