Temporary Associate Producer I, (Podcasts)
Position Summary:
Marketplace seeks a temporary Associate Producer to help support our podcast department as we work on a series of exciting projects through the end of the year.
We’re looking for an Associate Producer with at least three years of journalism experience, including audio production, research and booking experience. This position will primarily be responsible for supporting the Supervising Producer in creating a station special and other projects related to podcast production. They will also help support our existing podcast teams along with other duties as assigned. Our candidate should be well organized and detail-oriented and able to thrive working in a small, collaborative, supportive team-environment, while working on multiple projects.
This is a temporary position running from August - November, 2024
Expected Hourly Range: $31.25 - 38.53 Exact salary will be determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)
Position Responsibilities:
• Support Supervising Producer in producing an hour-long station special
• Contribute story and episode ideas, researching, booking and pre-interviewing guests, and writing, as assigned
• Participate in group edits, and use feedback to edit interviews, pieces, and episodes
• Contribute to hands-on production work like cutting and editing audio, laying up audio projects, pulling copy, maintaining archives and records, and scheduling host and/or studio time
• Write, produce, and edit within required deadlines
• Identify and cut for the best interview and tape moments
• Research topics and fact check stories;
• Write scripts and prepares stories and episodes for final mix, or adapt episodes for other platforms, including social, digital, or broadcast
• Write and create webpages, QC and publish audio
• Assist other Marketplace podcasts, as assigned
• Help coordinate special projects, as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
• 3 years of relevant work experience in audio or radio
• Experience editing digital audio
• Experience working on a show or podcast, preferably national

• Ability to quickly write and edit compelling content for a variety of platforms
• Ability to prioritize among competing tasks
• High editorial and audio standards
• Production experience in digital audio or radio
• Resourcefulness and ability to problem-solve
• Independence, positive attitude, initiative and excellent judgment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Interest and ability to pitch in where needed and take on new duties as assigned
