Your Role:

You’ll manage a team of inventive journalists who enjoy economic storytelling, taking risks, and experimenting with different and new ways to reach a broader audience. As a Supervising Sr. Producer, you’ll join an ambitious production team for Marketplace’s flagship show hosted by Kai Ryssdal.
We’re looking for a creative and deadline-oriented leader who has experience managing journalists, can work effectively in a team environment, and knows that the highest journalism standards come from building a culture of collaboration and curiosity. This is a position for someone with sharp news instincts and a relentless drive to expand Marketplace’s vision to serve a new public media audience.
Expected Compensation Range: $120,000 - $140,000 /annualized. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.
Work Location: Remote U.S.A, Hybrid.

Your Responsibility:
• • Collaborate with the host and the EP to develop and maintain the daily editorial vision, sound, and standards to best serve the audience.
• Manage, direct, and approve the daily work of the PM production team, including show assignments and coverage streams.
• Supervise direct reports, including organizing the production schedule, writing performance reviews, and coaching employees.
• Ensure all content meets Marketplace’s editorial standards.
• Create show rundowns, and develop content for the daily production show, including a focus on multichannel storytelling.
• Generate coverage, staying ahead of the news to develop coverage beats and lines of inquiry.
• Lead the morning PM assignment meeting for reporters and editors.
• Collaborate closely with editors to review and approve reporter elements for the broadcast.
• Help develop original series and projects with the host, production team, and EP to grow new audiences.
• Foster a productive work environment.
• Create development opportunities for the PM team to enhance skills and foster growth.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Proven ability covering and setting the editorial agenda for the daily platform.
• Experience with field production, narrative storytelling, and editing on a quick deadline.
• Experience in managing compelling content and stories for placement across multiple channels, including on-air and online.
• 7 years’ experience providing production and editing support or other applicable experience, including three years at the management/supervisory level.
• Supervisory/management experience is required - experience must demonstrate an ability to foster impeccable standards and an ability to coach, inspire, and lead.
