Host, The Current (Weekend)
Position Summary:
Join an award-winning team of on-air talent as a Host at The Current. As a Host, you will host on-air music shows on The Current including regular live and voice-tracked dayparts and occasional fill-in. Hosts at The Current also conduct artist interviews and in-studio sessions developed by our programming and production teams for multichannel content. You will be part of a team creating the future of public media at the country's premiere music discovery station.
This position sits in the collective bargaining agreement between The Current and Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (“SAG-AFTRA”).
Work Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays 11am-7pm, Monday-Wednesdays 9am-5pm, occasional fill-ins
Expected Compensation Range: $48,500 - $60,625/yr. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Location: St. Paul, MN - on-site
Your Role:
• Schedule music from The Current’s playlist and library and prep compelling on-air breaks about the music, artists, and local concerts for shows that are performed live and voice tracked.
• Operate the play to air system and studio equipment.
• Perform voice overs for shows, content, promos and underwriting as assigned.
• Prepare for and interview musicians and others as assigned.
• Write intros, interview questions, and scripted breaks using best practices for writing for radio.
• Host content on The Current’s digital platforms as assigned.
• Execute on-air content including features, in-studio sessions, and remote broadcasts.
• Participate in the promotion of Minnesota Public Radio, including public appearances and on-air fundraising activities.
• Understand and comply with FCC Broadcast Regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant broadcast experience.

• In-depth knowledge of the music heard on The Current including the local music scene, a strong sense of the musical direction and sound the station seeks to create and maintain, and an enthusiasm and passion to share it with the audience.

Preferred Skills
and Experience:
• Knowledge of Music Master and Dalet is helpful.
• Knowledge or experience in the radio and music industry, including the non-commercial public radio broadcasting and/or operational model and AAA format.
