Your Role:
MPR News seeks a dynamic host for its local version of All Things Considered. Based in Saint Paul, you will be the voice of our statewide coverage as part of NPR’s national broadcast. We’re looking for an experienced host with a strong on-air presence who can connect with an audience and is skilled interviewer. You need to be able to pivot from politics to education to arts to the weather.
This is a position for a team player who enjoys daily news and the connection with the audience.
Engagement beyond the studio is a key part of the position. From daily digital and video engagement to events, you will not be just the voice of MPR News in the afternoon, you will be the face of MPR News.
Airing across Minnesota, MPR News reaches over 450,000 listeners a week. We seek someone to serve those current listeners and help us reach new audiences in a multichannel future.
This position sits in the collective bargaining agreement between MPR and Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (“SAG-AFTRA”).
Expected Compensation Range: $99,674 - $124,518 /annaulized. Exact compensation will be determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Your Responsibility:
• Works with producer(s) to plan, produce, report and execute daily news magazine program
• Research, conduct and edit compelling live and recorded interviews with newsmakers
• Chief evening host for special programming and live breaking news events
• Field report and produce as needed, with audio and visuals for all platforms, including social engagement
• Make public appearances and participate in MPR-sponsored events as assigned
• Participate in on-air fundraising activities
• Other duties, including hosting other programs, news coverage and reporting, as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent work experience.
• Five or more years of news broadcasting or related experience.

• Ability to take complex detailed information and summarize into a condensed and easy to understand format.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet constant, recurring deadlines
• Ability to work well with and lead program production team
• Demonstrated experience researching, reporting, writing, editing, and engaging audiences on all platforms.
• Ability to find unexpected angles in stories, even in saturated topics.
