Position Summary:
LAist Studios is looking for a Production Coordinator to support the production, management, operation, promotion and sales of LAist Studios podcasts, including daily, weekly and limited series audio productions. This role will ensure that editorial, business, product, marketing and sales are seamlessly working together to meet tight timelines with multiple dependencies.
Ideal candidates for this role need previous experience working in a fast-paced, high volume production environment, and should be tech-savvy, podcast obsessed, self-starting, resourceful, entrepreneurial, endlessly curious, and highly ambitious. Impeccable time management, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a growth mindset will be key to success in this role. The Production Coordinator will report to the Executive Producer of LAist Studios.
Compensation:
The pay rate for this opportunity will be no less than $23.92 per hour. Exact pay rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.
Position Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with Executive Producer and VP of Studios to manage Studios-wide calendars, schedules, deadlines and deliverables.
• Upload and schedule episodes in our podcast CMS/publishing platform, including gathering metadata, writing and seeking feedback on show titles and descriptions, tagging, coordinating, and QCing with adops.
• QC all LAist Studios episodes.
• Manage approval process for promo scripts and spots with broadcast team, ad ops, traffic departments.
• Manage Studios-wide calendars that track show deliverables, approvals and other schedule and production needs. Work with show producers to keep them apprised of upcoming deadlines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project kick-offs, check-ins, internal handoffs and final deliveries.
• Coordinate some derivative podcast productions, including liaising with KCRW and NPR on jointly distributed projects.
• Use LAist.com web publishing CMS to modify templates and update landing pages, episode description pages and other content updates.
• Work with marketing team to determine feed-drops and feed-swaps for shows as well as marketing assets for internal and external promotions.
• Liaise with the Product team on other web updates, visual assets, and audio workflow needs.
• Liaise with Underwriting and Development team to develop scripts, coordinate tracking with hosts, and QC and prep spots for approval.
• Take and distribute notes at executive/cross-functional meetings; facilitate meetings as needed.
• Proofread and process transcripts, including posting on various platforms.
• Support staff (including on-call or temporary staff) as needed in working with facilities, travel or other onboarding support.
• Light production editing work.
• Participate in weekly producer meetings and develop operational protocols to support staff.
• Participate in cross-functional department meetings to communicate podcast production plans and coordinate participation in organization-wide priority projects.
• Facilitate receipt and payment of freelance contracts.
• Support compliance with grant deliverables and internal practices (e.g. download metrics, track applicable details from episodes such as sources, answer specific reporting questions).
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ work experience in operation roles in media or entertainment environments, ideally in podcast/audio or non-fiction TV/film production.
Required Skills

• Experience working collaboratively with creative, editorial, marketing, underwriting, development departments/talent.
• Highly proficient technical skills with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Highly proficient technical skills with Google Office suite (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Hangouts)
• Familiarity with video conferencing systems (Webex, Zoom), Slack and Concur.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively and meet tight deadlines
• Top-notch organizational skills, attention to detail and time-management.
• Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high volume production environment.
• Experience with basic elements of editing digital audio.
• Familiarity with digital publishing content management systems.
• Familiarity with Omny Studio, Megaphone or similar podcast publishing platforms.
• Ability to successfully meet deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities under pressure on a consistent basis.
Preferred Skills
and Experience:
• Experience in Omny Studio, Megaphone or similar podcast publishing platforms.
• Experience in audio editing with ProTools, and knowledge of DAVID, and other systems for broadcast and digital delivery of audio.
• Experience with research, storytelling, audio editing and sound design.
• Knowledge of budget management and ability to be fiscally responsible.
• An independent work ethic combined with a love for and patience with the collaborative process.
• Proven ability to contribute to a positive, diverse, creative, high performance culture.
• A track record of developing efficient processes to improve content outputs and overall production processes.
• Voracious podcast listener.
• Experience working with talent.
