Producer, APM Studios (Temporary)
Position Summary:
APM Studios seeks a temporary Producer to play a vital role in shaping the final deliverables of an upcoming series that lives at the intersection of America’s relationship with family, race, and the economy.
As a Producer you’ll deeply understand the mechanics of series production and demonstrate a comfort with archive material, organizing existing tape and new interviews, and know how to plan to meet multiple deadlines. You’ll also know how to bring the elements together through narration, music, and sound design to create polished final episodes.
Demonstrated success in crafting podcast and broadcast formats and working with host talent from beginning to end is a must, as well as knowing what works for the ear and will serve the audience first.

Location: Remote
Expected Compensation Range: $45/per hour. The exact hourly rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.
Your Role:
• Working with the EP and host, develop a detailed editorial and delivery plan for episodes
• Organize existing tape and identify the best cuts for the series
• Develop and deliver episode rough mixes for review
• Organize narration sessions with host
• Create the audio identity of the series through sound design and scoring
• Work with the team to secure clearances and release forms
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of journalism or radio/podcast production experience.

• Experience in writing and editing for radio or podcasts.
• Experience in project management with multiple departments.
• Experience collaborating with hosts for radio or podcasts.
• Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a podcast.

• Ability to work with initiative and good judgment.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to think big and create memorable audio.
• Ability to manage myriad details of production.

• Ability to evaluate content/quality/sound and act decisively.
• Experience with structuring narratives for audio.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proven ability to contribute to a positive, diverse, creative, high-performance culture. Ability to evaluate content/quality/sound and act decisively.
• Extensive knowledge of digital audio broadcast software and techniques, studio and field production.
• Ability to edit and mix high-quality programming with audio editing software (Pro-Tools preferred)
• Ability to produce programs of national quality.
Preferred Skills
and Experience:
• Strong preference for applicants with prior experience in podcast production.
• Sound design/scoring ability.
• Familiarity with ISDN, telephone, Zoom, and Skype interfaces.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
