This is a Part Time Job
Position Summary:
The Correspondent/Producer is a part-time position, responsible for creating outstanding audio narrative, documentary research, reporting, and producing for MPR News/APM Reports podcasts and programs. This experienced journalist, with expert investigative and enterprise skills, will be focused on the successful execution of the podcast Sold a Story, the pillar of our national education-focused reporting. The Correspondent/Producer will develop sources, research and conduct reporting, additional fieldwork, studio production, digital content development across all channels and other adjacent activities of the project as assigned. The Correspondent/Producer will be a leader, collaborator, and mentor in revelatory reporting, maintaining the highest standards of journalism excellence.
This position sits in the collective bargaining agreement between MPR and Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (“SAG-AFTRA”).
Work Location: Hybrid, St. Paul, MN

Position Responsibility:
• Initiate, research, write and produce documentaries, reporting, and content across all channels for the APM reports team
• Play a key role in developing and delivering series and episode storylines, in line with the project mission
• Serve as an editorial and production leader, resource and mentor
• Be a primary contributor to team meetings and activities.
• Conduct field production, logistics and recording
• Oversee studio production as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• BA degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of broad experience in journalism, reporting and documentary production. Capacity to manage complex, long-term projects.
• Substantial experience in research and origination for in-depth projects.

• National radio documentary production.
• Excellence in writing and story-telling in the longform style, across channels
• Ability to develop stories at the highest standard of excellence as measured by clarity, balance, creativity, originality, eloquence, audio elegance and compelling delivery.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
