Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) is a member-supported public media network whose mission is to strengthen the civic and cultural bonds that unite Southern California's diverse communities by providing the highest quality news and information service on air at LAist 89.3, online at LAist.com and through LAist Live Programming & Events. Position Summary:
This internship supports the Broadcast Operations team in general, as we support content areas with their strategic goals. We see internships as a great opportunity to bring new perspectives to our team and recruit future employees into our department. As we provide interns with professional development, they provide us with an extra set of hands-on tasks that require additional help.
As the Intern, of Broadcast Operations, you will have exposure to all aspects of audio production planning and execution. Opportunities will exist to develop specific skills related to equipment setup and configuration, signal flow, interaction with hosts and producers, audio mixing, distribution systems, and master control.
The intern will work up to 15 hours per week for an estimated three-month assignment. This opportunity is in partnership with the Pasadena City College.
Location: On-Site, SCPR Headquarters, Pasadena, CA.
Compensation: The pay rate for this opportunity will be $18.66 per hour.

Position Responsibilities:
Support studio production by working directly with the Director of Operations and Senior Studio Technicians/Audio Production Engineers to accomplish the logistics of production, including:
• studio recording sessions and Live engineering for SCPR/LAist local news
• broadcast and podcast production & mixing
• master control services
Required Education and Experience
• Current college student OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months
• Classes or strong experience with audio or video equipment, including microphones, analog and digital processing, studio/venue systems, and stage setup
• Must be enrolled in Pasadena City College
Required Skills
, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Customer service experience
• Familiarity with professional audio/video equipment and standard cabling types and uses
• Ability to learn while doing. This is a working position, and interns will be expected to move equipment and work side by side with Technical Directors under deadline
• Professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to recording or broadcast studio environments

• Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
