Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) is a member-supported public media network whose mission is to strengthen the civic and cultural bonds that unite Southern California's diverse communities by providing the highest quality news and information service on air at 89.3 KPCC, online at LAist.com and through KPCC In Person. Position Summary:
KPCC LAist is in search of an individual to host virtual, hybrid, and in-person events that help Southern Californians discover, navigate, and connect through live journalism and arts and culture experiences. Organized around general interest and/or specific theme(s), event hosts will be highly collaborative and creative conversationalists, curators, and storytellers. They will work closely with producers and editors to host original multiplatform events. The host may participate in various aspects of event production including (but not limited to) generating ideas for events/series, prospecting and booking guests, identifying topics and framing conversations, crafting audience-facing copy and program scripts, and anchoring the event. They will also support the production of related content across SCPR platforms. The host will have a passion and expertise for the event/series area of focus and serve as a public representative of the event/series externally.

Compensation:
The pay rate for this opportunity will be no less than $55.53 per hour. The grade of this position is ZT.
Position Responsibility:
• Support (as needed) the development of the overarching narrative and creative framework of event/series.
• As needed, conceive, develop, propose, research, plan, and executes ideas for events/series and contribute to other SCPR platforms as needed and assigned.
• Host virtual, hybrid, and/or in-person events/series.
• Participate in planning meetings, suggesting ideas for conversation frames, guests, and new approaches to events/series.
• Engage with the audience through social media when appropriate/works with social media team to maximize community impact.
• Comply with SCPR standards and practices.
• Conduct interviews and works with producers and editors to frame, script, and gather other elements for event production.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong written, verbal, and social communication skills
• Strong and clear communication style
• Experience working collaboratively with creative, media, and editorial talent
• Experience interviewing and leading group conversations
• Strong organizational and time management skill
• Ability to meet all deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail
• Become and remain a member in good standing of SAG-AFTRA by the thirtieth (30th) day of employment.
Preferred Skills
and Experience:
• Fluency in Spanish or other non-English languages commonly spoken in Southern California.
• A passion for creating excellent content/events/experiences

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Travel to venues around Southern California required.
• Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
