Position Summary:
The position’s primary focus and responsibility is the technical coordination and production of The Splendid Table. The Technical Producer is a key member of The Splendid Table team, collaborating on all aspects of program production while being at the center of workflow and production processes.
Weekly responsibilities include: voice tracking and interview recording, show segment editing & mixing, promo production, and delivering audio files and metadata to both broadcast and podcast distribution systems.
This position will work within the Technology & Operations division and collaborate with colleagues both within and outside of The Splendid Table team and the Media Operations team to ensure ongoing excellence in support of The Splendid Table. In addition, this position will also help support other studio and remote production supported by the Media Operations department.
This position will also work to help integrate video production into The Splendid Table’s regular workflow, helping with editing and file management as needed.

Position Responsibility:
• Show production: direct voice tracking sessions, produce and assemble segments, and distribute to a national audience.
• Manage production workflow and processes for The Splendid Table team.
• Edit and produce creative sounding and engaging audio and video content.
• Oversee administration of content distribution systems for The Splendid Table radio and podcast episode creation, rundown, promos, and file delivery.
• Participate in editorial planning and contributing ideas to content planning sessions.
• Maintain high standards of audio/video production, customer service, and technical knowledge.
• Audition and QC produced programs for air.
• Update and maintain production elements library.
• Work closely with host and producers to develop signature host-centered show segments.
• Provide technical support for APM stations and affiliates.
• Maintain expert knowledge and operational skill in digital audio production tools using in-house software-editing platforms (currently utilized systems include Dalet, Pro Tools, and Davinci Resolve) as well as broadcast mixing consoles (currently utilized systems include Axia).
• Responsible for responding in a timely and professional manner to internal and external requests for audio files, technical assistance, and planning details.
• Collaborate closely with show hosts, directors, and producers to accommodate an efficient and creative broadcast/production environment.
• Maintains high standards of audio and video production, leading by example while working with the team to deliver quality standards using our standard operating procedures.
• Works with other departments and/or external partners to remain up to date on all technical and content changes and modifications.
• Test, connect, and monitor codecs and any other equipment necessary for interview recording (currently utilized systems include Comrex Access, LiveU, Opal, Riverside, and more).
• Operate digital audio recording devices and interfaces for both in-house and field recording.
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal colleagues and external constituents.
• Provide fill-in help for varied Media Ops activities including: remotes, live broadcasts, podcast production, archive, interview recording, and general studio operations.

Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or five or more years experience as an audio engineer or producer.
• Experience in creating and producing radio features, sound pieces, and cultural programming.
• Three or more years experience as an audio engineer or producer.
• Knowledge and experience with computer-based audio technologies and audio editing software.
• Computer literate with experience using PC and Mac platforms.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must be flexible under deadline pressure, handle multiple responsibilities, and work effectively with hosts and other staff.
• Must be a self-starter and able to successfully operate with little or no supervision.
• Understanding of different types of music and its uses in radio & podcast production.
• Thorough knowledge of best practices for radio & podcast production in creating and producing highly compelling programming, promos, branding, and signature sound.
• Demonstrated ability with video editing software and video production techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships to achieve common goals.
• Able to perform work independently or in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally.
• Ability to maintain composure and perform well under pressure.
• Creative problem solver and ability to communicate complex principles in non-technical terms.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in operating signal processing equipment and digital plug-ins including equalizers, compressors, limiters, de-essers, reverb, and other digital effects.
• Expert fluency in several digital audio workstation varieties, Pro Tools experience preferred.
• Ability to train both technical and non-technical staff on audio and video equipment and production systems in a one-on-one or group learning environment.
• Demonstrated skills operating and knowledge of audio consoles, microphones, mic pre-amps, patch bays/routers, multi-track recorders, AD/DA converters, and related audio equipment.
• Ability to multi-task daily.
• Ability to think about content editing from the perspective of the audience to help shape a story or piece with creative editing and production techniques.
• Project planning, communications, and teamwork skills.
• Problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Knowledge of digital production and content management systems for radio program production and automation.
• Demonstrated skills with video editing and production including basic graphic design techniques and graphic layering with video.
• Working knowledge of lighting techniques for video production.
• Ability and desire to not just maintain the status quo, but to increase the quality and efficiency of the team’s work over time.
• Demonstrated professional experience in editorial processes and/or a journalism background.
• Project management skills.

Salary/Benefits
$38.00 - $42.75 /hour USD
The exact salary rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.
