Your Role:
The Assistant Digital Producer on the digital team will play an important role in maintaining the high standards of Marketplace’s website and helping us drive users to the site. You will be part of a welcoming and supportive team that works across the newsroom.
We’re looking for an assistant producer who is driven to find new and compelling ways to tell stories on digital platforms; organized and meticulous; willing to experiment; and can thrive in a quick-paced environment.
The assistant producer will help present radio content on the website, curate the homepage and write podcast descriptions.
This position would work earlier hours, from 5:00am EST to 1:30pm EST.
Expected Compensation Range: $28.125 - $29.8076. Exact hourly rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Position Responsibilities:
• Re-write broadcast scripts into article copy.
• Work with Marketplace producers to identify strong broadcast content that would translate well to web.
• Pull audio links from our audio system and embed into web stories.
• Select photos, adjust in Photoshop as needed and embed photos for articles, write captions in AP style.
• Perform a preliminary name and fact check on radio copy for the web.
• Help to curate the homepage, selecting articles for the top of the page and other key elements on the home page.
• Check copy flow against rundown daily and communicate with editors and reporters.
• Write podcast descriptions and titles for the shows.
• Publish the MMR podcasts in a timely manner to catch morning listening traffic. Double- and triple-check posts for spelling, grammar and factual accuracy.
• Work with our editorial partners at the BBC to publish their content for Marketplace on the website.
• When needed, review radio reporters’ Marketplace Minute podcast, (a one-minute news digest) for accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Two years of work experience in production, editorial, media or related experience.
