This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Intern is responsible for assisting the Editor and Researchers at the AFI Catalog of Feature Films Office and will also research films (1975-1993) and materials located in various Los Angeles collections, including the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Margaret Herrick Library, public libraries and video stores.
Principal Duties:
• Conduct research at AMPAS library.
• Research commercial availability of films released between 1975-1993.
• Organize and maintain DVD library.
• Collaborate with the Editor and Researchers to coordinate materials and workflows.
• Data entry and proofreading of onscreen film credits.
• Transporting of reference materials to various Los Angels collections.
• Perform other office duties as assigned by the Editor.
Experience/Skills Required:
• Minimum two years undergraduate experience, with some academic research preferred.
• Film History and Library Science students preferred.
• Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills coupled with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of film history and production.
• Aptitude in both library and online research.
• Exceptionally detail-oriented with the proven ability to handle numerous tasks with appropriate follow-up and reporting activities while not losing sight of the big picture.
• Can work independently while being an integral member of a high-functioning team.
• Proven project management skills with the ability to take a project from conception through completion with minimal supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts and procedures in simplistic terms.
• Superior database management and computer skills with expertise in Word, Excel and Raiser's Edge.
• Possess a positive and professional attitude with the ability to work as a member of a high-energy, results oriented team.
• Car required, some driving required.
• Must be at least 25 years of age with proof of insurance, a current drivers license and a DMV driving record for a three (3) year period to date.
