PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Programming, the Programming Assistant will collaborate within the department to help administer and coordinate the AC's public programming calendar of live and virtual events. This is a fast moving and collaborative position that requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented and an excellent team-player. Entry level position (40 hrs per week) with an opportunity and expectation for growth (or advancement) in the programming department
Duties and Responsibilities
-Provides administrative support for the programming department; performs office functions such as arranging and preparing programming meetings; receiving and answering correspondence; updating and organizing department files.
-Writing, researching, and copy-editing for various materials including programming copy, as well as promotional copy and materials.
-Watches and submits reports on film screeners.
-Researches and stays up to date on industry news, including for theatrical and repertory film.
-Collaborates and communicates effectively with vendors and outside stakeholders including distributors, partners, sponsors, schools and outside organizations.
-Assists with on-site production of screenings and special events; coordinates with the operations department to mount live events.
• Maintains important documents and communication flows, including Run-of-Show, to ensure seamless event production.
-Locates and researches prints with archives and private collectors. Books film prints and DCPs; coordinates prints and DCPs with print traffic and projection.
-Making travel and accommodations for special guests; point of contact for guest relations.
-Maintains programming database and important data flows between programming and other departments; prepares Programming reports from database.
-Occasional public speaking
-Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
-High School Diploma or BA
-1-3 years work experience, preferably in a film festival, specialty cinema, non-profit or museum environment.
-Must be able to travel to theatrical venues: Aero, Los Feliz 3, Egyptian, and other venues.
-In-depth knowledge of the history of cinema, and strong interest in contemporary cinema and entertainment industry.
-You're a wordsmith. Incredible copy-editing skills.
-Technologically savvy-MS Suite, G-Suite, Zoom, etc; can learn new softwares with ease.
-Strong attention to detail - A close eye to following-up and making sure things don't slip through the cracks.
-Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
-Organized, proactive, solutions-driven, quick on your feet, and never afraid to roll up your sleeves and jump in where needed.
-Discretion; must be able to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to thrive in a creative, collaborative and fast-paced environment; comfortable working independently
-A passion for the theatrical experience is a must.
-In short, you love going to the movies!
-Experience with Salesforce or other database experience is a plus
