Our team builds new experiences for Amazon Music listeners. We help our customers discover up-and-coming creators, while also having access to their favorite music and podcasts. We build systems that are distributed around the world, spanning our music apps, web player, and voice-forward experiences on mobile and Amazon Echo devices, powered by Alexa. Amazon Music products support our mission of delivering audio entertainment in new and exciting ways that listeners love.
Amazon Music's New Projects team is looking for founding team members across a variety of functions, including software engineering/development, product, marketing, and more. Come make history, as we launch new projects for millions of listeners.
As the Sr. Programming Manager, you'll play an instrumental role in shaping the strategy for how we share the next generation of artists with our customers.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Apply extensive knowledge of the music and audio space to hand-curate programming for a growing customer base, including the general audience and targeted fans of genres and artists.
• Execute a programming strategy from the ground up, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and thinking outside the box.
• Work with industry relations team to identify opportunities to engage more deeply with various types of artists, content, or trends, and identify gaps in content needs
• Dive deep into available data and work with Business Intelligence team to identify needed metrics to inform understanding of customer tastes, optimize customer experience, and maximize customer engagement.
• Devise and maintain a strategy for laddering new songs and artists through programming from discovery stages, compiling customer data, and identifying current and future hits.
• Use a deep knowledge of genres, subgenres, artists, albums, tracks, and trends to inform algorithmic programming at scale; work with developers to optimize customer experience within genres of expertise.
• Use a combination of personal judgment and available data to identify artists and original content to feature with Marketing and other cross-functional teams
• Generate a plan to meet goals and achieve goals for increasing customer engagement and quantitative performance.
Qualifications
• BS/BA required
• 7 years in work experience in music programming, music supervision, editorial, A&R, and/or running an editorial calendar
• Demonstrated success in delivering results in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
