Our ad products span from upper-funnel, brand-building advertising to lower-funnel purchase-driven advertising. Upper-funnel, brand-building campaigns feature highly-engaging experiences with brands, both on Amazon's digital properties, cross-platform (mobile devices), and also within diverse offline experiences, such as Amazon Lockers, Shipping Boxes, Amazon Fresh and branded subway cars. We work with most major brands in the globe, across most industries, from CPG to Entertainment, Automotive, Finance Services and Consumer Electronics. The advertising we deliver truly innovates at the intersection of ecommerce and media.
We're seeking a product management leader to take our brand focused ad products to the next level. This person will have single-threaded ownership for this program and play a significant leadership role in Amazon's overall Advertising business and product team. Developing new ad experiences across Amazon's desktop digital properties that will showcase innovative experiences at scale.
Key functions of this role include: product strategy, product delivery, metrics and data, customer experience, packaging/marketing, and advertiser experience. Your challenge will be to not only grow this existing business, but also re-invent how display advertising looks and feels on Amazon. There are opportunities that software can enable for upper-funnel advertising that is ripe for innovation and potentially disruption. We are looking for a leader who can lead a large business through such a transformation. You will be expected to establish a vision and key priorities for the program. You will need to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. Most importantly, you will be challenged to think big about new and unique ways regarding Amazon, desktop and mobile advertising.
The ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or contending priorities is highly desired. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level critical initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. You will be 100% customer focused, understanding their needs and requirements, plus anticipating future trends that will serve their needs. You will also be excellent at making things happen, being able to coordinate large, multi-functional projects on-time, anticipate bottlenecks, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. You will be able to lead a team at scale, and participate/influence other senior leaders across the company future direction-setting.
Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence and leadership are essential to success in this role. You will be data-driven and analytical. You constantly aspire to expand our understanding of the metrics that drive our business and growth aspirations. Lastly, your communication skills – both verbal and written – are excellent, and you will be able to clearly communicate at all levels in the organization, including senior management. You will be responsible for program area end-to-end.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree
• 10 years product management experience
• Experience shaping business strategy for technical products or services
• Willing to travel up to 50% to Seattle HQ (as needed)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Background in digital advertising or media (mobile a plus)
MBA
• Familiarity with technical aspects of digital advertising, ideally mobile and/or mobile advertising
• A demonstrated track record of leading a 'program' from conception through completion, demonstrating multi-functional skills to make it successful
• Experience leading P&L
• Excellent oral and written communication skills – with both technical and non-technical individuals;
• Analytical and able to create sound business arguments backed up by data
• Lead and influence across different organizations and align diverse teams to a common goal
• Handle multiple contending priorities in a energizing environment
• Willing to think and act strategically and tactically.
• Passionate and knowledgeable about emerging mobile and digital media and its technology
• Demonstrated ability for being detail-oriented, self-motivated and driving follow-through
