Our team builds new experiences for Amazon Music listeners. We help our customers discover up-and-coming creators, while also having access to their favorite music and podcasts. We build systems that are distributed around the world, spanning our music apps, web player, and voice-forward experiences on mobile and Amazon Echo devices, powered by Alexa. Amazon Music products support our mission of delivering audio entertainment in new and exciting ways that listeners love.
Amazon Music's New Projects team is looking for founding team members across a variety of functions, including software engineering/development, product, marketing, and more. Come make history, as we launch new projects for millions of listeners.
As a Principal, Strategy & Operations, you will have the opportunity to shape the overall operating strategy and mechanisms of the team responsible for broadening use of the Amazon's music business. We are looking for someone to lead critical business cadences and operational interlock across the team. This person will take responsibility for key writing, reporting, and analysis focused on improving the team's operations, and to drive strategic initiatives. You will partner with business, product, and engineering teams across Music and Amazon to drive results. The ideal candidate will be curious and inquisitive, with strong operational rigor. They will thrive in ambiguity and be willing to try and fail and try again to design customer-centric solutions to the problems that arise.
Role & Responsibilities
• Lead the development and delivery of key business cadences (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) such as strategic planning, resource justification and allocation, and initiatives as well as regular business reviews
• Own operational deliverables, such as writing, resourcing, and narrative development for the overall business team strategy and processes
• Partner with leadership team to develop, implement and monitor strategy
• Think big while maintaining frugality to streamline processes and recommend tooling to improve the overall efficiency of the team, including team communication and data collection
• Design processes to scale, while maintaining flexibility to address the dynamic needs of our unique customer and geographies
• Own improvement projects and new initiatives from concept-to-delivery, in collaboration with leadership
• Experience authoring/running/attending narratives WBRs, MBRs, QBRs, and OP1s
• This role has high levels of Music executive exposure and will require availability and deliver results reflective of this
Qualifications
• 7 years of professional work experience
• 7 years of experience in business development, partnership management or sourcing new business
• 7 years of experience in developing, negotiating and executing business agreements
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related quantitative field
• 10 years in strategy & operations, business development, consulting, or program/product management
• Demonstrates ability to drive and prioritize work across multidisciplinary teams and communicate progress/ results to stakeholders
• Proficient in analytical written communication backed by data
