Amazon Studios is the movies and television development and production arm of Amazon. The Global Studios Consumer Insights team at Amazon Studios is looking for a Director of Consumer Insights (US) to oversee a team of researchers across Movies and Series. The ideal candidate will have experience leading high performing research teams and 10 years of experience in the market research field. This role will report into the Head of Global Consumer Insights for Amazon Studios and will be responsible for driving strategic research initiatives across Creative Development, Strategy, Marketing, Finance and Data Science teams in the US. This role will also oversee a research team made up of Managers and Individual Contributors. We're looking for a leader who will create a vision that aligns with the Amazon Prime Video customer experience. A leader who will foster autonomy while coaching and mentoring in a high-growth environment. At Amazon, leaders are owners and never say ''that's not my job''. The successful candidate will also have the ability to operate at all levels and take the reins on project work when necessary from owning individual projects, writing reports to delivering insights. The candidate will have prior experience managing quant and qual studies end to end with a keen sense of how to use primary, secondary and big data analytics to make business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
• Represent the voice of the customer at every meeting
• Manage a high performing research team
• Define consumer insights initiatives that lead to a deeper understanding of the Prime Video Customer and overall digital streaming population
• Drive research projects through the lifecycle of a series/movie to help create ambitious and compelling content
• Identify high impact inputs that influence the creative direction of Amazon Originals and how they are marketed
• Translate complex data sets into clear and compelling written narratives for Prime Video Leadership Executives
• Drive the development and adoption of prediction models alongside Data Science and Strategy teams
• Work closely with Marketing teams to help position our content for success
• Manage team spend and work with Finance on budget and headcount allocations
• Work with Legal to negotiate vendor contracts
• Champion Diversity and Inclusion initiatives
• Set agenda and own monthly staff meetings
• Develop individual growth plans for direct reports
• Hire the next generation of top tier Insights professionals on the US team
Qualifications
• 10 years in the market research field
• Team management experience, 5 years
• Experience managing substantive departmental budgets/P&L
• Direct experience leading primary research studies across various methodologies: online quant surveys, focus groups, 1:1, ethnographies, online qual, mobile
• Third party vendor/research partner management contract negotiation experience
