Development Executive Event Series (TV)
Amazon Studios has an opening for an experienced television executive to look after the creative demands of Event Series (focusing on Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror). The ideal candidate has extensive experience in identifying source material/talent, giving creative guidance and feedback to top level show runners on outlines, scripts, and cuts and is fully versed in top writers and directors working in the premium television space. We're looking for a self-motivated, passionate and able to work well in a team and alone. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and relationships. Also must have excellent creative instincts on material in the worlds of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror.
• Identify writers and producers for television development
• Identify books, comic books and other relevant source material
• Attend pitch and general meetings
• Work closely with writers to develop story and scripts
• Participate in notes calls and meetings
• Watch cuts and dailies and participate in production calls and meetings
• Supervises post-production/editing of programming materials to ensure quality of finished product meets standards
• Maintain relationships with agents, managers, producers and network partners
• Provide assistance to local regions for their programming and development needs
• Primary liaison between the scripted department and all other departments including Marketing, Ad Sales, Press, Research, Digital, Social and Business and Legal Affairs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• College degree. Related field strongly preferred
• Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of executive level experience in development at a studio, network, or production company
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• General understanding of the global TV marketplace
• Strong relationships with agencies, management companies and producers
• Avid reader
• Knowledge of television (past and present)
• Knowledge of story structure
• Ability to generate creative ideas for projects
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
• Ability to multi-task, organize and schedule work effectively
• Must be detail-oriented
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, when necessary
