Full Job Description
Story Editor, Movies Creative, Amazon MGM Studios, Culver City, CA.
The Story Editor is the owner of script coverage and coverage editorial oversight for the Movies Creative team. This role manages and mentors Story Analysts and Readers, onboards and trains new readers on coverage standards, assigns incoming material to staff and freelance readers, and maintains quality control across all coverage.
Responsibilities include ensuring timely turnaround on priority material, maintaining coverage databases and archival systems, and upholding consistent editorial standards. The role requires a deep understanding of screenplay structure and storytelling craft, strong written communication skills, and experience managing and editing coverage.
Qualifications include 7–10 years of experience in story, development, editorial, or related creative roles, as well as experience collaborating with departments such as casting, production, research, PR, and business and legal affairs. Experience overseeing creative aspects of development, production, and post-production is also required.
