Alfred Music Publishing is seeking an intern for our Business Affairs department. The Business Affairs Department handles transactional legal issues, licensing, permission, contracts, and complex copyright and trademark issues.
The ideal candidates will be available 10-20 hours per week. Interns will be trained on assigned projects from Business Affairs and work closely with the manager and team members from the Business Affairs department.
Exact hours and schedule for the internship will be arranged between student and Business Affairs Manager, and will accommodate the intern's class schedule.
This position is ideal for someone looking to explore the legal/licensing/permissions side of the music industry.
The professionals at Alfred spend quality time with our interns in order to maximize their learning experience. Interns are involved in the regular activites of the department.
Alfred is located near the 405 Frwy on Roscoe Blvd. in Van Nuys, California. Casual dress in office.
Areas of learning include (but are not limited to):
Business Affairs issues such as:
Researching publisher information for third party songs
Researching websites infringing on Alfred copyrights
Handling licensing royalty payments to ensure all parties get paid appropriately
Participating in Business Affairs/Royalties meetings.
Gaining exposure to copyright, contract, and other Business Affairs issues
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
Skills needed:
Proficient with the fundamental PC operations including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Extremely detail-oriented and conscientious
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to handle simultaneous multiple projects
Communicate well both written and verbally
Desirable: general music industry business concepts
