Position Overview:
The Albuquerque Isotopes are actively seeking a Community Relations Manager to join our highly dynamic front office team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about building and maintaining relationships between our organization and the local community. We believe that our community involvement is a vital part of the team's overall success on and off the field. This position will be responsible for managing the team's community partner relationships and maintaining and developing programs and initiatives that contribute to the community outreach goals of the organization. This individual will work in collaboration with the community, corporate partners and all internal departments to further promote the club's strategies to assist in growing our visibility and brand. The individual in this position is expected not only to be exceptional in regard to organization, communication and planning, but also to deliver an outstanding experience to our community and establish a positive experience with the overall organization. This is an exempt position reporting under the direction of the Manager of Public Relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead, implement and foster all community-based programs including but not limited to: Club Read, Take You Out to the Ball Game, Charity Banners, Youth Skills Clinics, Orbit's Kids Crew, Mascot and Player Appearance requests and schedule other staff to represent the club at various volunteer and speaking events
• Hire, train, supervise and schedule Mascot performers and escorts to participate in community appearances and manage performers during all Isotopes home games
• Manage budgets and track community department expenses
• Support corporate partnership efforts through cause-related marketing and community tie-ins
• Schedule and serve as a team representative at community events and ensure the organization has an appropriate level of involvement at local events
• Coordinate staff volunteer opportunities in the community, in-park, and at games/events
• Develop and schedule community appearances and volunteer opportunities for Isotopes players and field staff
• Coordinate speaking engagements through the Isotopes Speakers Bureau; manage all incoming requests and schedule accordingly
• Partner with the ticketing team to develop fundraising opportunities for local groups
• Partner with the public relations team to ensure Community website pages are updated
• Maintain and ensure the overall quality and care of Mascot suits, props and accessories
• Manage the mascot's Facebook and Instagram accounts
• Actively engage and create relationships with key community partners, leaders and organizations to enrich and develop community programs
• Manage and maintain a maintenance schedule for community van
• Coordinate and conduct ballpark tours, delegate to appropriate parties as necessary
• Manage all community donation requests
• Game duties may include assisting with pre-game ceremonies, on-field promotions and coordinating entertainment acts
• Help plan and execute theme nights to help drive business goals and creativity
• Complete other duties as assigned including tarp pulls and game duties
• Assist with all non-baseball events to include contract negotiations, pre-event planning, food and beverage planning, staffing, load-in/out and overall event execution
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Sports Marketing, Business Administration, Journalism, Mass Communication or related field preferred
• Background in community relations, public service, or the sports industry preferred
• Proven written and verbal communication skills, strong conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and motivate teams
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general technical
• Music, video editing and event production experience are a plus
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive for organizational business
• Ability to work variable long hours including nights, weekends and holidays
