Editorial Manager will oversee the organization's writing strategy by creating powerful content that will extend our brand influence, grow our audience and increase fan and member engagement opportunities. This will be implemented by compiling a style guide, recruiting and managing a core team of web content producers and coordinating the needs of internal stakeholders to yield content for Oscars.org, social media platforms, member communication, marketing projects and occasionally Oscar.com. The Editorial Manager will work in-house under the direct supervision of the Sr. Digital Media Manager, as part of the Digital Department staff, and in support of several departments within the organization including the Marketing team.
Night and weekend work may be required during specific times of year and for specific events, and may be necessary on short notice.
• Write clear, accurate and compelling copy about Academy events and initiatives for the Website including, but not limited to, feature articles, re-caps and company blog(s).
• Generate copy under tight deadlines without immediate supervision.
• Editorial strategy and production, from idea generation to publication.
• Maintain editorial calendar to cover all Academy channels and formats, including website, emails, social, video and newsletters.
• Create, maintain, and teach an editorial style guide.
• Responsible for hiring freelance writers to cover Academy events and general interest film content.
• Work with marketing teams to develop engaging publicity and advertising scripts and copy.
• Lead the planning and promoting of initiatives through different editorial avenues.
• Edit content before publication to ensure written materials provide the most impact/views and messaging is consistent with Academy brand and voice.
• Conduct regular reviews of our editorial content and suggest possible new areas of talent/skill to expand its capabilities.
• Promote our Academy-wide initiatives through editorial pieces.

Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
•Minimum 5-6 years writing, editing and proofreading for reputable Web properties, preferably film oriented
•Strong organizational skills and strategic thinking
•Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
•At least 3 years of experience recruiting, managing and supervising writers
•Exceptional skill with Microsoft Word and other text editing tools
•Strong experience with various style guides (Organizational and AP)
•Excellent collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills
•Experience in Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Drupal, etc.)
•Online or printable portfolio of written works required
