Sr. Manager, Studio Research (Theatrical and Streaming)
Job Summary:
For the Studio Research & Analytics team at the Walt Disney Studios, the entertainment consumer is at the heart of everything we do. We are charged with finding the best methods to understand our customers' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in both the theatrical and streaming marketplace. We do this in pursuit of making our films and TV series the best they can be, and shaping marketing campaigns around the world. As part of the Studio Research & Analytics Team, you will join a dynamic group of research professionals who love movies and TV series, and are passionate about bringing the consumer voice into studio decision making every day. We are looking for a Manager, Studio Research.
In partnership with the Director and Vice President of Studio research, this position works with the team responsible for managing primary quantitative and qualitative research studies for all content made by The Walt Disney Studio. These include movies and TV series released in theaters, on Disney , Star, and Hulu. This includes content made by the Studio brands including Marvel, Lucas, Pixar, Disney Animation, Disney Live Action, and 20th Century Studios. The Senior Manager plays a key role in the day-to-day management of several global studies and have varying degrees of supervision, autonomy, and responsibility to become a trusted partner for the Studio Marketing teams. Key strengths for this position come from experience with designing and communicating global research briefs, quantitative and qualitative research on creative advertising, international market research, managerial skills, and a passion for movies and shows. The Senior Manager will also be a key liaison with a broader digital analytics team within the department.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the project management of global research projects for theatrical, Disney , and Hulu/Star campaigns from inception to completion. This includes the development of appropriate methodologies, data analysis, presentation design, and report delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, creative testing, screenings, exit surveys, and franchise studies.
• Must be comfortable articulating and sharing opinions on creative materials.
• Manage at least one direct report, developing their growth and contributions to the team through instruction, coaching, encouragement, and maintaining an open dialog about personal performance and the performance of the larger team
• Attend focus groups and screenings, both domestically and internationally, and synthesize the findings for production and marketing executives.
• Lead the management of syndicated title tracking for theatrical releases, both domestically and internationally.
• Manage and take a lead on numerous ad-hoc, custom quantitative and qualitative research projects on an as needed basis.
• Review/prepare research tools (e.g., questionnaires, discussion guides) and help with project logistics as needed.
• Develop and synthesize custom presentations and global summaries of different research projects within and across titles to support strategic planning for key stakeholder across the company.
• Build and maintain relationships with research counterparts from other divisions of The Walt Disney Company as well as partners/stakeholders in the Studio Marketing and external vendors.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in media studies, film studies, marketing, business, sociology, or related field.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in entertainment market research. Additional entertainment industry experience welcomed.
• Solid project management skills and experience, including questionnaire design, and data analysis.
• Strong communication skills, written and oral.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others, both in a supervisory role and as a collaborative team player.

• Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Must be willing to work non-traditional hours when needed to cover early memos, screenings and focus groups after the standard work day.
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• International research experience preferred.
• Multi-cultural market research experience preferred.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Keynote.
• Passion for films, TV, and/or entertainment industry overall.
