6abc News Department Internship (WPVI-TV) – Spring 2020
Job Summary:
WPVI-TV has been the Delaware Valley's #1 news station for a half century. 6abc Action News covers the rich history, culture and traditions of more than eight million people in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. We are looking for exceptional student leaders who aspire to work in broadcast/digital news. This internship will provide an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a newsroom in the 4th largest television market in the U.S.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life…
• Travel with reporters and photojournalists in the field for newsgathering and live remotes
• Write copy and edit video for newscasts
• Observe producers and executive producers in their respective roles
• Attend morning and afternoon editorial meetings
• Get an up-close look at how news is distributed beyond TV to our myriad of digital and social media platforms
Basic Qualifications:
What you bring to the role…
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Declared major or previous coursework in a mass media/new media-related field
• Must be a junior, senior or a recent graduate within six months of graduation
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in broadcasting, new media production or script writing
• Thorough knowledge of and experience with social media
• Ability to thrive in a team environment but also work well independently
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility:
• All students must possess unrestricted work authorization
• All students must be at least 18 years old
• All candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship. All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship

Program Dates:
• All candidates must be available from January – May
• All candidates must be willing to work 16-24 hours/week
• Your schedule may include days, nights, weekends and overnight shifts
