Senior Producer, Race & Culture (ABC News Audio)
Job Summary:
Are you committed to telling stories of people and communities that are often overlooked and underreported? Have you had success identifying and leveraging opportunities to connect audio content to diverse audiences? ABC Audio is looking for a journalist, research analyst and a social connector all rolled into one! If you have the heart of a creative, with a passion for connecting insights to journalistically sound business strategies, then this could be the job for you.
We need someone with a consumer research background who can understand the growing complexity & potential reach of the audio business. This person should also be a highly creative content producer with a talent for diverse editorial storytelling, especially across news and podcast products.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: Work with our teams to create and deliver new radio news products and podcasts, while maximizing their creative and commercial sponsorship opportunities in the marketplace with a focus on expanding our reach with multicultural audiences. Participate in editorial story development sessions to ensure the diverse experiences of our audiences are reflected in the content. Serve as ABC Audio's in-house expert on all-things research, connecting insights to actionable strategies that help drive reach and revenue for ABC Audio – including news, podcast and syndicated products. Engage in recruitment of new diverse talent for ABC Audio. Write and produce content for use across all ABC News platforms.
Basic Qualifications:
Please apply if you have:
• 10 years of experience; including significant broadcast journalism, analysis, market research or consulting roles.
• Experience developing new audio content.
• Knowledge and experience in the implementation of both custom qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies preferably in a news environment
• Passion for all forms of digital audio including podcasts/on-demand and more traditional radio news products
• Have a highly self-motivated, inquisitive problem-solving nature
• A track recording of building trust, collaborative relationships with across platforms and business units
Preferred Qualifications:
It would also be nice if you are:
• Proficient in relevant languages, including Spanish.
• A natural leader - you can inspire teams to bring their ''A'' game;
• A pro at social media and other digital tools; and
• Motivated: You're the person who can tackle any task – and wants to.
Required Education
You have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
