Job Summary:
ABC News is seeking journalists and content creators from diverse backgrounds for our newly expanded year-long Fellowship Program. Participants accepted into this program will spend a year rotating through a series of ABC News shows, departments and digital platforms while mastering the editorial, production, and newsgathering skills essential to success in the competitive, fast-paced field of multiplatform journalism. These journalists will gain hands-on experience developing news stories, working in the field and in the studio on broadcast production, writing news stories, shooting, editing, refining research skills and developing content for multiple platforms. Additionally, each participant will have access to industry-leading professionals, as well as development and mentorship opportunities.
Responsibilities:
This position requires excellent writing, reporting, time management, and communication skills. Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and should
possess superior news judgment, attention to detail, and a keen understanding of news broadcasts and the digital space.
Responsible for all facets of production including: Developing story ideas and pitching to senior editorial staff, gathering elements for stories including shooting b-roll, conducting interviews, graphics and video research, writing scripts, and editing packages for multiple platforms.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years' of relevant professional experience or equivalent educational graduate-level experience
• Demonstrated writing skills
• Proven interest in journalism, production and digital content
• Candidates must have work authorization in the United States through 2021
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years' journalism experience
• Ability to edit packages on AVID Newscutter
• Ability to shoot on DV camera
Required Education
Bachelors' degree from a 4 year accredited college or university
