Multi-Platform Reporter – Visual Verification (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
The visual verification multi-platform reporter (MPR) – Project Hire is a key member of the ABC newsgathering team, responsible for producing and presenting the work of the visual verification team on camera for ABC News Live and digital platforms.
Candidates must be active users of social media for news gathering and have a demonstrated ability to move the audience between linear and digital platforms. Must have an interest in video verification and knowledge of online disinformation techniques.
This is a Project position and employment will continue on this Project (at the company's sole discretion), and in no event shall extend past the completion of the Project.
Responsibilities:
A successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing great contacts and sources and telling impactful stories. Our ideal candidate innovates every day and is willing to experiment with new technology.
This person must be organized and work well under pressure and constant deadlines. We want someone who brings a positive attitude every day and is receptive to feedback.
The candidate will be comfortable optimizing (pitching, writing) this content for use across different platforms, working closely with editorial for broadcast and digital. S/he will be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating impeccable judgment and social acumen.
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidates should have a solid resume reel showing superior on camera presentation.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of disinformation tactics and social platform policies
• Proven competency across social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat
• Highly organized and detail oriented with exceptional sense of accountability
• Ability to manage multiple projects and create ideas in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates should be able to shoot video and edit stories for linear and digital.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with news organization.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
