Job Summary:
ABC News is hiring a Managing Editor, Social for the GMA Digital team.
Responsibilities:
The Managing Editor, Social is responsible for leading all aspects of GMA's social presence, including prioritizing social platforms, coordinating all social elements as needed with the GMA broadcast team, greenlighting IG story pitches, assigning trending pitches with the Editorial Managing Editor, managing GMA community efforts, and project managing all social sales campaigns.
The Managing Editor, Social is responsible for managing the GMA social team. This person will manage a team responsible for all social efforts to support the daily broadcast, developing best practices for each social platform, regularly post across all GMA platforms, and develop social-specific content as needed to grow our social communities.
The Managing Editor, Social will be responsible for working closely with the GMA broadcast team as needed to identify and implement evolving social strategies that better serve our TV and social audiences.
This person will also lead the GMA team in delivering on all social sales campaigns, including responding to social-specific elements of RFPs and creating new social sales packages.
The Managing Editor, Social is charged with continually growing our audience and engagement across all social channels while maintaining GMA's reputation as an accurate and trusted brand.
This leader is a key member of the GMA Digital and overall ABC News senior leadership team, and is responsible for growing social audiences across new platforms and launching new community strategies. This person will be expected to be well-versed in social trends and innovate GMA video strategies appropriately while also communicating best practices to the Walt Disney Company leadership group as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years' work experience leading video teams at a digital media company
• Experience managing branded content campaigns on social platforms
• Extensive experience producing social content across all major social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Instagram
• Proven experience growing social audiences
• Minimum of 2 years' experience managing teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two or more years managing social platforms at a news network preferably focusing on lifestyle content
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
