Executive Producer, 20/20 (ABC News)
Job Summary:
ABC News is hiring an Executive Producer for 20/20.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 15 years experience in long-form story-telling with, ideally, a journalistic mastery of crime, justice and human interest reporting. Additionally, the candidate needs to be able to pivot to breaking news specials when required, managing the news division's reporting resources, a 75 person staff, and production assets for quick-turnarounds on a moment's notice.
The candidate must innovate visually and narratively in a multi-platform ecosystem with an eye toward finding a story palette that will expand 20/20's reach to new viewerships while reliably providing its core audience the high-impact, satisfying journalism that continues to surprise, inform and inspire audiences.
Collaboration and exceptional leadership skills are required. The EP of 20/20 must seamlessly integrate disparate parts of the division into the program's work flow: sales, standards, legal, promotion, finance and HR. The candidate must also be fluent in budgeting and production costs that can be tailored to the broadcast's revenue structure. In addition, the EP will have to think creatively to find new revenue sources by developing spin-offs, new limited series, sponsored digital content, and incremental hours the network might order beyond the Friday night broadcast.
The EP must also be fluent in talent management, juggling the needs of anchors, correspondents and support teams, knitting together the various constituencies within the staff and around the news division.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 15 years experience in long form storytelling
• Proven ability to build, manage and lead a team; Experience managing creative teams in a high-pressure environment
• Strong editorial judgment
• Executive-level presentation and communication skills
• A team-first, no-drama working style, with a focus on results
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills which will enable him/her to interact with a range of personalities and styles and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization; have a problem-solving approach; be highly self-motivated, well-organized and have a strong work ethic
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
