Executive Editor - News Practices (Project)
Job Summary:
ABC News is looking for an Executive Editor, News Practices, (Project) to cover a weekend shift providing editorial guidance and support across all ABC News platforms.
- This is a Project position and employment will continue on this Project (at the company's sole discretion), and in no event shall extend past the completion of the Project.
Planned schedule is Thursday through Monday.
Responsibilities:
• Executive Editor, News Practices, is responsible for Standards and Practices and policy across all ABC News platforms.
• As part of the news practices group, individual will be expected to be able to cover a wide range of ABC News content including ABC News Digital, World News Tonight, Good Morning America, Nightline, 20/20, Newsone, Early Morning News, Lincoln Square Productions, ABC News Audio, ABC News Live and special programming.
• Work closely with Executive Producers, Senior Producers, Editors, Producers and Writers reviewing scripts and other editorial content for fairness and accuracy.
• Educate and guide new and veteran staff on ABC News policies.
• This position will require working weekends and at night.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of work experience.
• A candidate must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, exercise diplomacy, maintain confidential information, and have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the News Division.
• Applicants should have a proven track record of superior editorial news judgment over a period of years in a fast-paced digital and broadcast news environment.
• Strong editorial skills, a commitment to the proper handling of confidential material and the ability to communicate across all staff levels are required.
• The ability to work in a high pressure environment where you need to be proactive.
• Motivated to work independently but also collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior broadcast, radio, long form and digital experience.
• Experience in Investigative journalism and news management.
Required Education
• BA or BS from a 4 year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
