Job Summary:
The Coordinating Producer of Multi-Platform Reporting will serve as a true editorial and operational leader in the ABC News Washington Bureau on behalf of ABC News' affiliate news service NewsOne, and on behalf of ABC News Audio, which encompasses both radio news and podcasts. The Coordinating Producer should be a visionary, with creative ideas about how to push the Washington Multi-Platform unit into the future, and must also be a savvy, experienced manager, who will supervise a team of producers and on-air reporters who file around the clock for these platforms. In addition, the Coordinating Producer will closely collaborate with ABC News's 24/7 streaming channel ABC News LIVE. He/she will also manage ABC News Client Services in Washington.
Responsibilities:
The Coordinating Producer will be responsible for ensuring high quality reporting and storytelling by the Washington-based Multi-Platform unit. Key responsibilities include providing input on daily assignments and coverage plans, editing correspondent scripts, and managing the editorial content and production of news packages and other content. The Coordinating Producer will also be expected to troubleshoot operational issues and manage customer service issues on behalf of ABC News Clients. This individual will also play a critical role in mentoring and developing our Multi-Platform Reporters.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years working in a senior editorial role in a newsroom.
• Strong television broadcast background
• Must be well-organized, an excellent writer, able to multi-task, and calm under deadline pressure
• Must have a deep understanding of Washington news, including experience covering the White House, Congress, foreign affairs, and presidential politics
• Must work well with others
Preferred Qualifications:
• Audio/Radio experience preferred
• Experience working with (or at) large market affiliate stations preferred
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
