Coordinating Producer, Breaking News (ABC News Live)
Job Summary:
ABC News Live has an opening for a Coordinating Producer who is driven to win breaking news. This person should have extensive experience in the control room and the ability to get on the air quickly and sustain coverage when news breaks. This role calls for someone who understands that winning breaking news is how you win in the streaming space.
Responsibilities:
The Coordinating Producer of Breaking News will be able to support a team in the control room - and take leadership when necessary, managing the rundown and making sure all parts of the show come together. They should have a calm demeanor and excellent talent management skills. They should have an understanding of mechanics of the production team in the control room as well as the workings of the broader news division so they know which levers to pull to make breaking news coverage as strong and smart as possible. They should be able to oversee the editorial staff for extended hours of on-air coverage, proactively identify and address problems quickly, then independently create informed solutions. This person will work closely with the Special Events department.
Basic Qualifications:
• All candidates should have extensive control room experience and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends and thrive under daily deadline pressures.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: broadcast, cable, major local news market, streaming news.
• Knowledge of iNews (or other similar producing software)
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree (TV/Film/Journalism or related field) or equivalent work experience
