WPVI serves close to 7 million people 2+ who reside in The Delaware Valley, an area covering Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. In the past year Action News has won 2,633 out of 2,662 newscasts in households for a winning percentage of 99.8%. On average, Action News captures nearly 45% of all adult news viewers, 25-54. WPVI has provided coverage to the Thanksgiving Day Parade for 100 years in 2019!
This person will be tasked to Direct live broadcast and streaming news programs utilizing both automated television production systems as well as a conventional production environment. This position also requires extensive knowledge of television audio setup and execution for studio and field productions.
What You Will Do
• Directing live local newscasts and taped special programs using the Ross Overdrive Production System
• Directing live and taped special event programs in a conventional Production Truck environment utilizing the Ross Carbonite switcher
• Planning and setting up audio for special field productions and running audio for these shows using a Midas Pro 2 audio console.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• A minimum of three years of directing experience in a local or national news organization
• Thorough knowledge of conventional and automated television production systems.
• Thorough knowledge of studio and field video and audio production.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, early mornings, and holidays
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate to all crew members during the live telecast.
• Experience Directing live, linear newscasts using automated production systems (i.e., Ross Overdrive, Grass Valley Ignite, Sony ELC)
• Audio experience setting up microphones, pre-fades, IFB, etc., for live studio and field productions.
• Proven leadership experience.
